Journey to the Thief Dragon

The only hope to save the village is to retrieve the stolen crystal from the dragon.

Second place Award in GCC Game Conference 2018 agents more than 14 teams. It’s a 2.5D action-adventure game. About a young girl who has a mission to retrieve a stolen crystal from the dragon using her abilities. The crystal contains her grandfather's power, which puts the village in danger.

A game jam competition to create a game from scratch in line with the theme “Fantasy” in 48 hours.

Challenge:

The challenge was to make a game with little to none experience in game development.


Solution:

We Focused on the story to deliver the theme. Inspired by Asian and Dragon mythology.

3D Arist

  • Modeled and textured characters.
  • Created assets and environment.
  • Set up level in UE4.

  • Helped with developing the main character abilities.
  • Debugged and exported the game.

  • Designed and created UI assets.
  • Programed UI using Blueprints.


Self-Reflection

  • Managed to have a workable game on time.
  • Follow tutorials and implement it at the same time.
  • Exporting the game due to bugs and unused assets.
  • Import models to UE4 from Blender.
  • Make things work.
  • Start with optimizing the project for export.

  • Use a draft project for testing and then migrate it to the main project.
